An Introduction

This is intended solely for personal use, I do not plan to make this public. However, after I'm gone, I hope my family finds it.

1. Born an identical twin, lost my sister in 2009 at age 50. Living without her has been the most difficult lesson I've ever had to learn.
2. Now an old woman, divorced for many years. Living without a mate has been lonely, but not life shattering.
3. Two children - Sean and Leslie. Sean died in 2007 and I seriously thought I might die, too. Leslie divorced in 2010 and came to live with me, which has been life affirming, if not actually life saving.
4. I have two grandchildren - Curtis and Jasmine. They make getting up in the morning a pleasure and give my life meaning.
5. I was trained, and have worked as a medical secretary since 1982. I've been in my current position since 1992.
6. I've been dabbling on the internet since circa 1994. It has become one of my favorite activities.

That's all I can think of at this moment. I will add to it later if something seems relevant.

Friday Five - Age

1. How long to you hope to live (to what age)?
I'd like to make it to at least 90.
2. Based on the lifespans of your grandparents and/or great-grandparents, what is your realistic lifespan?
Both grandfathers died early, from chronic illness. One grandmother died at 80, and the other died at 92.
3. What is the average lifespan of people in your country?
Average for both genders appx 79 years, but men it's 76 and women it's 81.
4. At what age do you plan to retire (or did you retire)?
I'm planning to work until 70, but I may get a bug up my ass and quit without notice one day...
5. What are your plans for retirement?
I'd really like to travel, but if the current political climate doesn't abate, I guess I'll travel here in the US.

The Friday Five

1. How often do you hear live music?
Most every night. There is a bar / club a couple of blocks from the house with local bands. When it gets too hot inside, the staff opens the doors.

2. What was your favorite live musical performance ever?
Pink Floyd Division Bell Tour at Arrowhead Stadium, June 20, 1994

3. Do you play an instrument, or sing?
I played clarinet all through school, and taught myself a few chords/songs on the mandolin about ten years ago.

4. Have you ever performed music onstage?
At school concerts, not as an adult.

5. Who is your favorite musician?
John Lennon and George Harrison before they died. Now, it is a toss up between David Gilmour and Prince.

The Friday Five

1. What do you consider your current main fandom? (This can include hobbies and collecting. Anything you feel fannish about!)
The Boys on Prime
2. What was your first fandom?

Highlander: The Series
3. Do you have any favorite headcanons or fan theories?
None that I can think of, really.
4. Have you ever created fanworks?
I wrote song lyrics which Davis-Panzer purchased and used on a blooper reel, and I had a letter published in Entertainment Weekly back in the 1990s.
5. Are you still active in any old fandoms?
I still follow Supernatural at various sites.

Why Is the Internet So Obsessed with Celebrity Cloning?

So, for the past couple of months, I've been seeing stuff all over the place that Jim Carrey is not Jim Carrey anymore… evidently, he received an award in Paris on February 26, and the whole internet has gone nuts about his changed appearance and affect. They honestly believe it is a clone.

This is not new. I'm old enough to remember the Paul is Dead conspiracy theories from 1966. He allegedly died in a car accident and was replaced by Billy Shears. Also, there is the theory that Avril Lavigne, who allegedly died by suicide in 2003, was replaced by look-alike Melissa Vandella.

Now stuff is starting to get even weirder. Tupac was tired and wanted out. When he died, his soul transitioned to Eminem. And we must mention that Katy Perry is really JonBenet Ramsey. JBR did not die in 1996, as reported, she was secreted away, to reemerge as Katy.

This is what happens when I have an unlimited supply of caffeine, chocolate, and go down a rabbit hole. I just need to drag others with me so I can make it all make sense.

Lord, Lord, Landlord! What A Day!

No preface – I'll just start from the beginning.

This morning I received an instant message from my boss saying that our technical security team had called. Someone using my log-in had attempted to gain access to the Mercy intranet but did not have the correct password for our required MS Authenticator app. He said it looked especially weird to him because the name showed as something completely different than mine.

I received an email from the technical security team with a phone number to call. The woman accessed my computer to look around, and basically and respectfully grilled me for over an hour. Then, she asked if I could transcribe our conversation to an email with a reference number and respond to one of her leaders.

I'm sure you have heard about the ransomware attacks that have been happening to healthcare systems all across the country. This was my first though – someone was using my info to hack into Mercy.

While all of this was unfolding, my personal laptop kept dinging with new emails. I had four emails for password confirmations from my bank and my Intuit account. I spent all day talking on the phone, changing passwords, and securing accounts. I just finished about thirty minutes ago.

My only consolation is there were no actual breaches, my two step verifications actually worked. Also Mercy determined that I was in the clear, I'm not at risk to lose my job, or have the Department of Homeland or Department of Justice come storm my home.

Warning - Rant Ahead

Excuse me while I rant for a minute or two. I will preface this by admitting this is inane and trivial with everything going on in the world right now, but it still pisses me off.

I’ve been seeing a commercial for an upcoming series on, if I’m remembering correctly, MAX, and the background music is an electronic/synth cover version of Zombie by The Cranberries. The vocalist is a young woman, with a small, breathy voice, almost as if she’s whispering, with no real emotion.

Dolores O'Riordan wrote Zombie about and for the young victims of a bombing in Warrington, England, during the Troubles in Northern Ireland. Dolores, like Sinead, was a keener. Not all of their songs were laments, but a good portion of them were about injustice, inequality, or to honor the dead and help others express their grief.

Zombie has been covered by a lot of singers / bands. I just feel a disappointment and more than a bit of anger, because most of those bands do not have any cultural significance to the song itself, or a corresponding experience. I believe they just wanted to sing a cool song.

There you have it. Me expressing judgment over something that is absolutely none of my business, but I can’t let it go!

Playing Catch Up - Checking In

It's been a minute. Here are a few highlights.

Sertoma Chili Cook Off It was a delight, as always. We were so busy, I didn't have a chance to walk around much; I was only able to get three pieces of bling, but they're fun. One is a squishy pink pig on a keyring, another is a "mini" tumbler with a lid and straw. If you take the lid off, you can store your ChapStick or lipstick inside, and the third is a headband with springy bees' antennae, a la John Belushi on SNL

The music was fantastic, as always, I saw people I went to high school with 50 years ago, people from my work, and the "regulars" I've met over the past seventeen years.

I met Sasquatch. I promise it was really him, because he told me things that only he could know, but made me swear I'd never repeat them. And, for the record, his beverage of choice is Diet Dr. Pepper.

Mardi Gras / Shrove Tuesday Since I work from home, I didn't wear purple, green, and gold. But Leslie and I made pancakes, replete with strawberry glaze and whipped cream from the grocery store, we weren't that ambitious.

Senior Issues I need some major dental work. Such a treat! I have very good dental insurance, but I still have copays and coinsurance, so I've been saving for that. I feel deprived when I want to make a frivolous purchase, but must remind myself teeth are more important…

Mountain Dew Cabo Citrus We recently discovered this at the grocery store. It's a special treat, grapefruit-orange, and very refreshing. I still like Sprite / 7-Up as an alternative to Coca Cola, but this will be worked into the rotation.

Friday Five I read the questions answered about magic, spell casting, and setting intentions. Her answers were great. However, that's a little too much information about myself that I feel comfortable sharing…

In Conclusion That's all the excitement I can recall – I'm positive there is more, because it's been a very decent few weeks. If you want to know something specific, please feel free to ask.

Frivolous February - Accordions

While wandering aimlessly through the tubes, I saw a photo of a very handsome gentleman playing an accordion and it made me remember my beloved Cathy and a memory she shared with me shortly before she left.

First, the facts:
We attended church regularly as children and there were three brothers who also attended; one a couple of years older, one our age, and one a year younger. We thought these boys were dashing! And to add to their appeal? They played accordions!

Each boy had his own, in a different color casing, but all were epic chick magnets (now, you must remember this was in the mid 1960's. We didn't know about rockstars yet).

Now, the Cathy memory:
One night, we were watching television and talking, and we got on the subject of those dashing Peebles Brothers. Cathy told me that in addition to crushing on the boys, she had desperately wanted an accordion of her own, in black and red. If she had been fortunate enough to obtain one, she would have kept it in her room, sitting on a little chest at the foot of her bed. When friends came over to visit, Cathy would allow them to gaze upon her treasure, but touching was strictly forbidden!

Now, I am sitting here laughing and whispering prayers that Cathy finally has her own!

The Epstein Files

I can’t talk about this anywhere else, because of my employer. So, you’ll just have to deal with my ramblings.

Basically, it appears most witness statements were suppressed because the people named are too important. It would jeopardize governments globally. Of course, we know about Prince Andrew, Trump, Dubya, Bill & Hillary, Elon, and others, but the FBI has never confirmed anything.

Then, we have the crazies who talk about the cult of Moloch – torture, abuse, sexual exploitation, and trafficking of children by an elite network, with the temple on Pedophile Island serving as a focal point. Evidently, torturing and killing children brings immense power and wealth.

There are videos at TikTok that purport Ghislaine Maxwell followed the little girl beauty pageants and rubbed elbows with John & Patsy Ramsey – there are photographs, probably AI generated, with JonBenet sitting on Epstein’s shoulders. Another woman brought up the romantic relationship between John Ramsey and Beth Holloway – Natalee’s mother. I’m not sure what she was trying to infer, I don’t believe the Holloways were affluent by anyone’s definition; Natalee disappeared outside the US and her killer made a full confession in 2023.

As of this time, we don’t know who is named in the Epstein Files, and probably never will. However, this has been one crazy ride, and if the names are released, people will be crucified. Not in the literal sense – actually nailed to a cross for all to see.

Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

Just Checking In

Christmas time is always a hard time for me, and this year it was especially rough.

The 20th was… awful. The kids were off with their friends, so it was just Leslie and me. Neither of us could talk. Seriously, we didn’t speak or even sit in the same room.. The best we could manage was a nod when moving through the house, or if we happened to pass in the hallway, we’d walk close enough that our shoulders touched for a brief second.

Today is different.

It isn’t the soul wrenching, paralyzing grief from Saturday. It’s a sad, lonesome yearning – for what? - I don’t know.

Think about Leslie and me often. If you say prayers, mention our names. If you have good vibes to spare, send them our way.
